AUTUMN LEAF RALLY 09
RUN REPORT
11 brave souls ventured out on a cold gloomy saturday and met at the Shell servo at Pheasants Nest around 9am.
Nice surprise to see Simmo and the Ducati turn up. Well done mate.
After the usual coffee and catch up,we took off for Yass ,straight down the highway;(the boring bit). When we hit Yass the hunt was on for grog and grub for the rally, but then someone remembered it was ANZAC DAY,so most shops were closed. So we did the most Aussie thing to do on ANZAC DAY and went to the pub to raise a glass or two for those soldiers. After a while ..........we decided to support the rally organisers and buy whatever we needed on site.(fully catered at reasonable prices)
Did I mention that it rained on and off all the way down.It made the trip from Yass to the site on the dirt road a bit of fun for some.New grading and roadworks made it feel like riding on bloody ice.
Once there it was plain to see that this rally was a favourite for lots of riders. This was my first autumn leaf rally.I d probably say there was up to 200 rallyers pretty much covering the whole site.In the middle was the hall and a large covered area at the side which was great to stand under when it was pissing down, and it did that on and off all night. Not to worry though ,it was dry in the hall and the band fired everyone up for a good time. They claimed they had the worlds biggest rally fire, but ours beats theirs hands down.........Saturday night was a blast.
Sunday morning awoke to the sound of steady rain but it stopped after a while. We packed up early and were about to leave .........one rider short/one short rider.......James still asleep in the hall..After he dragged his arse out and made ready,we were off, riding out in the rain ........again\still. This time we took the longer way to Yass via the black stuff. Bit of a cock up on the way out and a few were separated but we got together again minus Simmo who I figured was trying to catch up to Shane, when really Simmo was ahead of us all. Out of Yass on the highway(boring bit) from there it was 130-150 most of the way home via Marulan pub for de briefing(code for another drink)
IF you need to know any more details,, ask me or those who were there also Darrel..Ken..Simmo..Shane..Keith..James .Snot..Keiths son and brother plus late entry...Zane
A great rally ,well worth going to
